The Gold Standard for Replacing Teeth
Well, there’s a lot of good options for missing or damaged teeth. There are more than there used to be. In the past, the traditional option to replace a missing tooth was a bridge. A bridge is basically where a cap or a crown is placed on either side of this missing space and something that fills in the whole area and is permanent, that doesn’t come in or it doesn’t come out, is placed. And that’s still a great treatment.
Implants are an awesome way, though, that we can replace missing teeth without having to touch the teeth on either side. We can leave them alone. And just basically, we can place something in the area where the tooth is missing and take care of it and do so in a predictable manner. And that’s an amazing thing. Restorative dentistry is an amazing thing because it’s not only just that. It’s replacing broken down teeth with a supported crown or cap, things of that nature.
Frankly, taking out old, broken down, nasty silver mercury fillings and replacing those with a bonded restoration, a porcelain filling. Whatever it is that the case may be and with whatever types of materials that are out there. There are good choices.
