Comfortable, Relaxed Procedures
Taking teeth out is never fun for anyone. And it’s something that you have to be very mindful of your patient. And a lot of that, frankly, always comes down to explaining what we’re doing in a way that works for them. It’s also very important to get them as comfortable as you can because when patients are comfortable, and there’s no surprises and they understand what’s going on, it goes a lot better for them and for everyone, actually. And that could be as simple as telling them, “Oh, this is what to expect. This is what tooth. This is what is normal. This is what we do.” And giving patients the opportunity and the permission to let us know if something’s bothering them, whatever that might be.
If they’re not comfortable, if they need a minute just to do whatever, even just as simple as scratching their nose. I mean, whatever it is that they need to do so they can feel comfortable. The other thing is to know, when a tooth needs to come out, how to get that tooth out and how to do it properly and quickly. And I feel comfortable in the extractions that we do here and that, when we do remove teeth, those are the ones that we can do in the proper manner, in a quick fashion.
